asdfafd asfadsfa asdfadsfa afadsf Hi Chris, Hope this email finds you well. I’ve been home the last couple weeks getting caught up on lots of administrative work, and reflecting on the season. I want to start off by sharing a big thank you! I had a lot of uncertainty this past year, and it was extremely challenging at times. In the end it was worth it, and I’m grateful that you played a part in allowing it to happen. My total expenses for the season were $85,000, and an additional $19,000 for my contribution to have a ski technician. This seems like a large number, but Alpine Canada was quoting us at $240,000 per athlete in expenses. The program I had in-season was superior in my opinion to my last couple years of training. The quality of weekly prep for the world cup weekend, and the venues we chose were often the best. I constantly felt like I could take confidence from my training and bring it into the races. There were still gaps and less resources being with an independent team, but I was able to use some of my relationships on the road to bridge the shortfalls. Physio being a key one. I qualified four times this year for the top 30. Twice at the biggest stage during the World Championships. I was also the only Canadian male to score world cup points in giant slalom and slalom. The skiracing articles that came out recently shed light on the fact that I’ve scored points for 11 straight years in slalom, and 9 years in GS. However, I had loftier goals to re-enter the top 30 rankings. On the surface this would seem frustrating, but I’m keeping it in context. I finished 31-35 on eight occasions, with a couple other runs in the 30 before I took a DNF. I was fighting from high bib numbers, and unfortunately, I just didn’t quite have enough speed to make that final jump. My world ranking and start position is now significantly better in GS going into this Olympic year. For this reason, I’d like to give this coming season a chance with a heavier focus on GS. Last year in June I still wasn’t sure if I would even be ski racing. This year I’ve already taken a break, and I’m back to work for an everything-I’ve-got shot for the Olympics in Italy. There are still a few things to figure out, but I’ve got the support of Atomic again. I’ve also chatted with the men’s head coach for Canada and he intends to keep access to the World Cups similar. This was my first time since 2016 battling outside the 30, but I thought I brought some of my best skiing in years. Thank you again for all the support this past season, and for cheering me on as I battled it out on the world stage. I'll keep you posted on my next steps. Take care, Erik
